The picture shown above is incredibly good news on finding the water level on the South Tyger River. What is shown in the picture is the automatic gauge that is now operational. This makes finding the water level as easy as clicking on the link below and reading the graph.

The reading from the graph in the above link does not reflect how deep the water actually is. For instance if the reading on the meter is five feet, in most places the water level will be below your knees in the shallow areas.

There is still discussion on what should be the lowest recommended reading that would be worth a long drive to float the South Tyger river. For now it is recommended that a group doesn’t make a long drive if the water level on the graph in the link is less than five feet (5 feet).

Kayaks and canoes will drag often at less than 4.6 feet.
